Today we were able to donate $300 in veterinary services to a southern Ohio Appalachian Pound for two very, very sick puppies to save their lives. We are honored to be able to assist in this way! Thank you donors for supporting this very specific work!

These dogs were taken to the vet by a volunteer from the Hocking County Dog Shelter in Logan, Ohio. The three adult dogs are below, the two puppies are not pictured. They soon will hopefully be going to a new forever home, healthy.
We are thankful for Hocking County Dog Shelter volunteer, Amy Beougher for taking these dogs to the vet and using her own money to help them. We are also grateful for Don Kiger, Hocking County Dog Warden, for allowing volunteers to make a difference at the pound and for loving those who have no ability to speak for themselves. We are happy to report that the Hocking County Dog Pound is able to get 98% of the animals in, placed. Donation Value: $100 Deuce is a pretty cool guy - living with Teresa Daulong and Family in Houston, Texas. While he will always have his Appalachian roots, he is really enjoying his new family. Recently, Grandma's Gifts founder Emily visitied Texas and got to see him -- do you think he remembered her? We think so. He even gave her a smooch to say thanks for saving my life and finding me such a great home!
Luna's story is one that should make everyone's heart sing. While she was found tied to a tree, weighing about 50lbs, this girl has now made a full recovery. Check out her picture transformation below - she went from frail and mistreated to healthy and obviously very happy. We are blessed to have found her a forever home that already had a Great Dane. This month we lent a hand to help some dogs get to the vet in southern Ohio. We paid $414.54 in vet bills... we 're just glad everyone is healthy!
Vet Bills Paid: $414.54 As the year 2013 closes down, we made a small donation of dog food, leashes, and more worth $165.14 to an Appalachian dog rescue. Everything helps!
Donation Cost: $165.14 Luna was placed on October 12, 2013. She was found tied to a tree... and when you see the images, you can tell she went days without food. When she was found, she had no food or water or even a water bowl. She was taken from her owner and they were written a ticket. We pulled her from the pound and then took her to the vet. More than $500 later and numerous shots and medications, she went home with volunteers to stay for a few days. After pounds and pounds of rice, turkey, chicken, dog treats, and more, every other hour - throughout the night, she started to act and feel like a real dog again. Though friends of friends, we were able to locate a new forever home. She now lives outside Cleveland, Ohio. Check the news page on the Wag'N Wheels site for more photos. Continue to watch this page for updates on her new life!
We decided to assist the Lawrence County Pound today with a 2.5 gallon deck sprayer, replacement dog bed cover, and four 52 inch ceiling fans to cool and ventilate the pound. This is all due to our great donors and for that we say - THANK YOU!
This is Deuce. While he was stinky, let us repeat, STINKY, covered in fleas and ticks, we got him cleaned up and to the vet who updated his shots and gave him a clean bill of health! While he was from southern Ohio he now lives in Houston, Texas! Yee-haw!
This is one of the puppies we rescued in December. This little guy was covered in ticks... had been eaten by fleas... had an ear infection... skin rash... kennel cough... and a few types of worms. How horrible and only 3 months old. Three vet visits and about $400 later he was happy and healthy enough for a real home -- with Grandma's Gifts founder, Emily Douglas and her fiance (and fellow volunteer) George McNab! Ms. Molly is doing very well after getting over her kennel cough. As you can see, she is QUITE spoiled. She now lives in Bexley, Ohio!
Today we donated another 10 dog beds to the Lawrence County Dog Pound worth $434.70!
Satin is doing extremely well after recovering from parvo! Here she is hiking with her new dad in Southern Ohio! Check out that wintery view of the Ohio river. She also managed to find this giant paw print... from a bobcat!
Satin was the Grandma's Gifts Wag'N Wheels project first rescue! The Grandma's Gifts Wag'N Wheels program along with the help of donors and volunteers, helped to rescue these 11 wet-nosed friends and find them new homes during the month of December! Vet Bills: $342.04 Transport/Pull Fees: $425.80 My new name is Satin and I am officially Grandma's Gifts, Wag'N Wheels first rescue and placement! In this picture I am 6 months old. I was taken in as a stray by a woman who loved me dearly but was not able to let me stay. I was not taken to the shelter for my protection but Wag'N Wheels helped me find a home!
After a long stay at the vet due to parvo, I returned to good health, got fixed, and went to live with my new loving dad in Ironton, Ohio! Vet Bills: $586.20 |
