Grandma's Gifts Founder Emily Douglas was fortunate enough to make the pages of the Miami University Summer 2014 issue of the Miamian. The article features Geena Davis (see her picture below!) and the Women's Leadership Summit that occurred in April. At this event Emily sat on a panel with three other awesome and inspiring women and spoke about women in leadership as well as the importance of service (see Emily on the right in the second picture!). We suggest you check out page 30 & 31 in the article "If You See It, You Can Be It!" It's pretty empowering... at least we think so!

Today, Grandam's Gifts Founder Emily Douglas was the keynote speaker at the Worthington Kilbourne High School Socratic Society Induction. After a wonderful opening speech by Assistant Principal, Kevin Johnson, and piano performance, medals were then presented to new Socratic inductees. Emily then spoke for 25 minutes on the topic of leadership, volunteerism, self-esteem, and the importance of 'being different' to about 150 students and their parents. Today, Grandma's Gifts Founder and Executive Director, Emily Douglas, spoke at the Miami University Women in Leadership Conference as part of a moderated panel. The symposium was the official launch of a new program M.I.A.M.I. Women -- Miami Initiative for Advancing, Mentoring, and Investing in Women. The conference was specifically built around the theme “Making our Mark” and is intended to inspire and empower women to leave their mark on the world through leadership and giving back.
Emily was honored to have been invited and attend the conference. More information on the event can be found on the Miami University website. Today I spoke to the middle school students at McCord Middle school in Worthington, Ohio. I had a wonderful time and I hope that the students got something out of the day!
